Sunil Ambekar urges students to come forward and fight against all evils

SILCHAR, September 19: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today organized a day–long Yuva Sammelan here at Gandhi Bhavan. Sunil Ambekar, national organizing secretary of ABVP, was the main speaker. The programme began with the lighting of lamp followed by floral tributes at the photographs of Bharat Mata and Swami Vivekananda.

While addressing the gathering, Ambekar said that the country desperately needs the contributions of younger generation to fight against all sorts of evils. He said that India is going to be the youngest country in the world by 2020 and thus younger generation has a huge role to play to make it a superpower.

On the issue of growing population rate, Ambekar said that population could not be any obstacle rather if it could be channelized in a proper way, it could become a resource for a country. He advised the students not to get demoralized at the deteriorating scenario of the country. According to him, youth should come forward and fight against the menaces.

He reminded that India is a democratic country and if the common people are not happy with the performances of a particular political party or the government, then they have the power to overthrow it. He said that blaming a political party is not the end of everything. The people in general and the youth in particular have to exercise their franchise properly during an election.

Citing the instances of corruption, the students’ leader said that with the passage of time different ways have been developed by the politicians and bureaucrats to indulge in corruption. According to him, corruption in policy making is looming large in India. The common people of the country do not understand the nuances of policy corruption which according to him should be brought into light by the younger generation.

Condemning the activities of Maoists, Ambekar said in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and in other States, so many innocent people have been killed over the years. He cautioned the youth to keep out of such organizations that does not have faith on democracy at bay.

Sadhana Bala Singha, Northeast zonal secretary, while speaking on the increasing crime rates against women said that the situation has become so worse that women of this country are now frightened to go out of their residences. She said that acid throwing, bride burning, female infanticide, rape among others have nowadays become very common in the country which is ‘really very unfortunate’. According to her, every woman should be respected as a mother.

Singha added that not only uneducated people but also the educated class are also indulged in the crime against women. “Though we have passed laws against dowry, female infanticide and domestic violence, but these were not yet properly implemented.”

The national secretary Hari Borikar also spoke on the occasion. The later part of the day was enlivened with cultural programme by the members of the students’ body. Source: The Sentinel

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Cachar unit raises pitch for dismissal of UPA Government

ABVP raises pitch for dismissal of UPA Government

SILCHAR, August 13: Along with other parts of the country, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Cachar unit, raised its pitch for the dismissal of the most tainted and corrupt UPA Government of Manmohan Singh by holding protest demonstration before the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar here today. Its activists led by their leaders who included, Rajdeep Adhikari, state secretary, Subharaj Das, joint secretary, north east, Manoj Nikhra, state organizing secretary, Amitesh Chakraborty, town secretary, Apangshu Shekhar Shill, Barak Valley organizing secretary, Rupam Dutta, in charge Lakhipur, and Dipta Paul, member, joined in chorus to denounce UPA Government as the most corrupted ever in power in the capital of the country after Independence.

The leaders while addressing the assembly of ABVP workers and others attributed the ever rising corruption in all spheres of public life to the inefficiency and lack of leadership on the part of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues. It was this lack of vision and direction that inflation was at its peak, black money was on ascendancy, economic crisis, Maoist problem as well as insecurity of women were becoming vexed. The safety, security and integrity of the country was at stake. The stoic and enigmatic silence of the Prime Minister on the aggressive designs of Pakistan and China had shaken the faith and conviction of people in his leadership.

In view of the grave crisis facing the country under Manmohan Singh Government, ABVP submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, through the Deputy Commissioner, Gokul Mohan Hazarika, reiterating immediate dismissal of the UPA. All the union ministers and high bureaucrats involved in corruption should be brought under the purview of high level inquiry and their properties should be confiscated. A strong legislation should be enacted to curb mounting corruption.

Floating warrant should be issued against those who had stacked money in foreign banks, particularly Swiss, and the same be brought back to the country and utilized for developmental works. Against the backdrop of fake currency notes in circulation and also to put a check on black money, the currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 be withdrawn and new notes be printed within a month to replace them.

ABVP at the same time hammered for overall reformation in the election process, improvement of academic infrastructure, reorientation of administrative and judicial administration as well as police. The Election Commission should be empowered to look after the expenditures of candidates in the fray and their management which was expected to bring about transparency and also accountability.

E–Governance had to be implemented to ensure fair and speedy administration and also for its centralization. The police should be kept free from any political interference to deliver goods to people. The Macaulay system of education should be replaced by a system that would be based on the ideals, tradition and rich heritage of the country. The NGOs working in various fields and funded by the state should also be subjected to scrutiny and examination through an independent legislation. The student body also demanded that the tendency for commercialization of education and health sectors should be contained. The memorandum was signed by the leaders and activists.

BJP expressed their fury at the barbaric act of Pakistani army

BJP and Hindu outfits fume at the barbaric act of Pak Army

SILCHAR, August 7: Bharatiya Janata Party and its sister organizations, Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha, along with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Hindu Jagaran Mancha today expressed their fury at the barbaric act of Pakistani army in crossing over the border in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir and the killing of five Indian Army jawans. All these organizations while condemning this brutal act of the Pakistani Army described it as “most inhuman and cowardice.”

Four of the martyrs belonged to Bihar Regiment and one to Marathi Regiment. The leaders and members of BJP and other fronts paid their glowing tributes to the fallen heroes for their valour and courage in protecting the frontiers of the country at their own supreme sacrifice. They have at the same time taken serious umbrage at the statement of the Defence Minister, AK Antony, in the Parliament in a most casual manner. He was, according to them, acting at the behest of Pakistan and only encouraging the enemy for its belligerent activities. He was trying to shield the inhuman act of Pakistan and demanded that he should be dropped from the Union Ministry. Kaushik Rai, BJP district president of Cachar, Sushmita Purkayastha, president of Mahila Morcha, and others while holding protest demonstration against Pakistan, in identical manner stated that Pakistan which shelters notorious terrorists like Bin Laden, Kasab, Daud Ibrahim and the likes could never be friendly to India and should be renamed as ‘Jangisthan.’ They doubted the very ‘intent and purpose’ of AK Antony in not speaking any words against Pakistan despite all the barbarity and brutality being committed by its Army.

They wanted to know from the Defence Minister how he could ascertain that the killers of Indian soldiers were Pakistani terrorists and not the soldiers of the Army of that country. His such irresponsible statement smacked of his ill intention and amounted to betrayal of the country. It was not only dangerous but also unpredictable to make him continue as the Defence Minister of the country.

A rally was brought out by Hindu Jagaran Mancha which went round the town shouting ‘down with AK Antony’ and ‘down with Pakistan.’ Later on a public meeting was held at Narsingtola ground of the town addressed by the leaders of the Mancha, condemning both Pakistan and AK Antony in the strongest terms possible. Hindu Jagaran Mancha challenged AK Antony to quit his job of Defence Minister for his brazen pro Pakistan stance and to handover the responsibility of the Ministry to them and they would show how to take stand against Islamabad and how to run the Defence Ministry. All the organizations while demonstrating separately burnt down the flag of Pakistan as a mark of their deepest anger and ire against the Prime Minister of that country, Nawaj Shariff.
