ABVP raises pitch for dismissal of UPA Government
SILCHAR, August 13: Along with other parts of the country, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Cachar unit, raised its pitch for the dismissal of the most tainted and corrupt UPA Government of Manmohan Singh by holding protest demonstration before the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar here today. Its activists led by their leaders who included, Rajdeep Adhikari, state secretary, Subharaj Das, joint secretary, north east, Manoj Nikhra, state organizing secretary, Amitesh Chakraborty, town secretary, Apangshu Shekhar Shill, Barak Valley organizing secretary, Rupam Dutta, in charge Lakhipur, and Dipta Paul, member, joined in chorus to denounce UPA Government as the most corrupted ever in power in the capital of the country after Independence.
The leaders while addressing the assembly of ABVP workers and others attributed the ever rising corruption in all spheres of public life to the inefficiency and lack of leadership on the part of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues. It was this lack of vision and direction that inflation was at its peak, black money was on ascendancy, economic crisis, Maoist problem as well as insecurity of women were becoming vexed. The safety, security and integrity of the country was at stake. The stoic and enigmatic silence of the Prime Minister on the aggressive designs of Pakistan and China had shaken the faith and conviction of people in his leadership.
In view of the grave crisis facing the country under Manmohan Singh Government, ABVP submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, through the Deputy Commissioner, Gokul Mohan Hazarika, reiterating immediate dismissal of the UPA. All the union ministers and high bureaucrats involved in corruption should be brought under the purview of high level inquiry and their properties should be confiscated. A strong legislation should be enacted to curb mounting corruption.
Floating warrant should be issued against those who had stacked money in foreign banks, particularly Swiss, and the same be brought back to the country and utilized for developmental works. Against the backdrop of fake currency notes in circulation and also to put a check on black money, the currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 be withdrawn and new notes be printed within a month to replace them.
ABVP at the same time hammered for overall reformation in the election process, improvement of academic infrastructure, reorientation of administrative and judicial administration as well as police. The Election Commission should be empowered to look after the expenditures of candidates in the fray and their management which was expected to bring about transparency and also accountability.
E–Governance had to be implemented to ensure fair and speedy administration and also for its centralization. The police should be kept free from any political interference to deliver goods to people. The Macaulay system of education should be replaced by a system that would be based on the ideals, tradition and rich heritage of the country. The NGOs working in various fields and funded by the state should also be subjected to scrutiny and examination through an independent legislation. The student body also demanded that the tendency for commercialization of education and health sectors should be contained. The memorandum was signed by the leaders and activists.
